Could two Thai Ridgeback males live together?

21.07.2016

One of the most frequent question among people who want to purchase Thai Ridgeback puppy if male TRD could live with other male dogs? In one of my previous articles i wrote that it is possible but under several conditions. First of all 2 dominant males of any breed under one roof is a nightmare so dogs must not be dominant or at least one of them. Second  and very important condition is that the owner   must be  the real leader and understands dog’s psychology or at least  must hire a trainer.

Most of our pups live in big families with other animals. But some owners go futher and take even 2 TRD males.  In USA, in California big family purchased 2 male TRD pups in 2014: Kai and Cabo. They live happily together without any fights or conflicts. Unfortunately Kai  was put to sleep last year because of his illness. He was ill form childhood. It appeared after  he flied to USA. He has brain malformation. Of course the breeder refund money.  Due to love, custody and monthly medical care Kai managed to live over a year. His death was a big sorrow for Rob, Joanna their daughters, Cabo and us. Me and breeder are very thankful to Joanne and Rob for giving Kai a chance to live his short life happily. His brother Cabo missed him a lot and his owners decided again to purchase male TRD puppy. The choice was Mythiadog Ferarri Testarossa (nickname Tembo). Now Cabo has again his soulmate and both half-brothers live happily together.

Another successful story is about Mythaidog Forbes Duke Nangun and Khan (the blue TRD male from CZ kennel, far relative to Duke). You can see both young dogs on video. Their owner is also very experienced man but due to his reports  dogs have no problems and love each other from deep childhood.Dogs live in UK.

I know some more examples when TRD males or females live together in one flat or house without any problems. So it is up for new owners to decide if they manage to cope with 2 Thai Ridgebacks or not.
