A lot of people who want to purchase Thai Ridgeback Dog ask me about relations between Thai Ridgeback Dog and children of different ages.

I think the answer could be divided into 3 main parts.

First of all relationship between adult dog and newly born child. I think if your dog is absolutly normal dog and you have a great contact with him and he knows his place in your family you simply can’t have any problems. The dog accepts him and will not do any harm. But anyway you need to observe their relationship very carefully from the very beginning thus to help the dog to behave right.

Second — relations between puppy and little children. You shouuld explain your child or your children how to deal with a pup and to explain a pup how to behave himself with children. Most importnat not to play with a puppy in dog’s game. In this case a puppy could treat kids as other pups and try to dominate and can hurt them. Not because he is agressive or do not like them but because he plays the same way with his brothers, sisters and mother. better to play with puppy in the so called «developping games».

Third — you need carefully choose your puppy. The pup must be from normal parents. i will not choose a shy or over shy puppy, of course he can’t be agressive. he must be friendly, happy, open and in good condition with excellent socialization on his age.
